Zooey Deschanel: The Bliss of Perfection

Face it... There is something about Zooey Deschanel that makes your heart race just a little... Something that makes a smile find its way upon your lips... Something that makes you feel just a little lighter than air... There is just simply something about Zooey!

For those who are not touched by the magic of Zooey Deschanel, it is hard to understand those of us who have been blessed with the ability to feel the glow of this special girl. After all, they say, she is not the most beautiful actress, nor the most talented, nor even the most prolific.

But, we say, she is the most beautiful to us; she is the most talented we believe; and one minute of screen time for Zooey is worth an entire film from any other. She is as close to perfection as a girl can come. She is our fantasy girl come to life. She is perfection personified.

Like Zooey's personality seems to be, Zooey's movie roles have been varied and far ranging. Many first discovered her in the film Almost Famous where she played the lead character's older sister who promised him -- and through him seemed to also promise us the same -- that someday he would be cool as she gave him the albums that started him on his journey to reach that goal.

She went on to star as a spaced out party girl in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a live-by-her-own-rules cereal hustler in Flakes, a victim-turned-stalker-turned-love-interest in The Go-Getter, and once again had a turn as the sisterly sort in the indie masterpiece Live Free or Die. In short, no matter the role or how unique the character might be, Zooey always turned in a stellar performance.

Her latest role, as the not-quite-quirky, not-quite-mainstream Summer Finn in the underground sensation (500) Days of Summer is considered by some to be her best performance yet. But that doesn't mean she was a slouch in either the Hollywood hit Yes Man or the indie sleeper Gigantic. Zooey has had a busy year on screen in 2009 but does not have another movie scheduled until October 2010 when Your Highness is set to be released.

Perhaps if Zooey were just another actress, she would not be so dear to her fans. But Zooey is so much more than just a movie star. She is equally talented as a singer and songwriter. Many would say she is a fashion icon and she has even designed her own line of sunglasses. And there is no denying that her exuberant personality and just plain common decency shine through.

Even those who have not really learned anything about Zooey outside her career would probably bet Zooey is involved in charity work and it would be a bet they would win. One charity Zooey is sometimes associated with is PS Arts which works to get art back into public schools in California and she has even designed a pair of RODO shoes that were then auctioned off to support Clothes Off Our Backs Foundation among other charities. 

So though while we may love the spunky Miss Pussy Katz, the perfect older sister Anita Miller, the spacey Trillian Astra, and even the slightly neurotic Alma Moore, ultimately, underneath them all is our precious Zooey -- the girl who makes our dreams... well, maybe not actually come true, but oh so much more enjoyable to dream.
